Description

This session will cover the nuts and bolts of managing a labor and employee relations program — how to establish and maintain a program, from best practices in handling steward volunteers or recruiting ELR specialists, to training the ELR professionals on having hard conversations with BU employees (unions) or managers (management) on complex ELR topics. You will also learn about marketing a program to the organization and communication to customers, peers, and higher authorities. Mr. Stein will identify best practices in resolving issues with the other party, including use of official time (union) and performance management of ELR specialists, and the rebuilding of informal networks.
